Olalla Retirement Homes for Sale

Olalla is an unincorporated settlement and retirement community located between Keremeos and Penticton. With fewer then 100 residents, this town functions more as a tight-knit neighbourhood, where everyone knows each other by name. Olalla, a derivative of the Chinook word “Olallie", the local name for the Saskatoon berries that grow throughout the area, became a small settlement during the gold rushes of the late 1800’s and early 1900’s when several miners decided to make the large flat area near Olalla Creek their home. After peaking around a few hundred people and constructing both a hotel and post office, the miner’s eventually left after the gold slowed down, with only a few staying behind. The post office moved to Keremeos and the hotel closed down, but Olalla has persevered and continues to maintain a consistent population.

Olalla Map Olalla is just 15 minutes from Penticton, less then two hours from Kelowna and a mere 5 minutes from the fishing spot hot spot on Yellow Lake. Crazy Zack’s Collectible Store, the well-known (and only) local business, is a popular stop for travelers and townspeople alike with amazing unique items. Surrounded by ranches and crown land, Olalla is truly a hidden gem for those looking to retire from the hum-drum of city life. Come enjoy the beautiful open skies and clean air, and perhaps if you’re lucky you might even catch a glimpse of the infamous white mountain goats that dot the surrounding mountainsides.
